come on, ride the train, hey, ride it

Our second visit to the park was for a chance to ride the kiddie train.

Goshko was excited but, due to the clank clunk clank of the rails, he backed out last minute. Dimitar felt he was too large to fit, and baby Stefan was sleeping…so, I took a solo ride. For 1 lev (.60$) I got a 20 minute cruise through the foothills of Kardzhali. I think this was the first time I’ve been on my own in the past 6 months.

Couldn’t have predicted that today I would be riding the rails of southeast Bulgaria, childless, alone, and common language – less.

It was the best train ride of my life.

Perhaps I looked suspicious as the only adult passenger who boarded, sans child.

When we went through a tunnel, I felt like Willy Wonka, as played by Gene Wilder, would pop out and sing that creepy, psychedelic song…

“Is it raining? Is it snowing? Is a hurricane a blowing?”

We passed by the newest soccer statium and that was cool.

When we finished the tour and I reunited with my patiently waiting family, I noticed Stefcho had a new stroller set up:

I’ve been telling Dimitar for days how Stefan is at risk for torticollis. As an amateur physician, specializing in late night YouTube studies, I am SO GOOD at finding oddly specific things to worry about. Apparently, he listened to my anxious ramblings (I am not down playing this condition. Just poking fun at my thought process). Still riding the wave of railroad bliss, I happily discovered baby had a fully supported neck thanks to a very talented rigger.

Another lovely day, another miscellaneous adventure. And, as always, another stunning stroll.
